WorkLink Employment Society is a non-profit and registered charity that has provided government-sponsored employment related services and reginal economic development support to the Westshore, Metchosin and Sooke to Port Renfrew communities since 1978. The organization is funded through federal and provincial government initiatives and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from community leaders. Contract Opportunity:

The contractor will develop and implement the first formal fund development program for the society, building on almost 50 years of success in the community.  You will have access to the support and resources of a knowledgeable leadership team, an amazingly creative marketing department and a leading-edge information technology team, ready to assist you in developing a unique and strong donor engagement/fund development program. You will build relationships with donors, manage fundraising campaigns, and oversee grant applications to augment the organization's financial sustainment goals and new revenue diversification strategies. The Fund Developer will meet with the Executive Director once a week (virtually or in person) to present reports and review deliverables.

 

Areas of Focus:

Donor Relations

  • Use an understanding of donor motivations to build and maintain strong connections with donors/potential donors whose values align with the Society’s mission

Fundraising

  • Develop and implement a variety of fundraising initiatives, including donations, major gifts, planned giving, events, sponsorship, and campaigns
  • Prepare correspondence, including donation letters and engagement proposition statements
  • Prepare weekly reports on fundraising activities and fund performance

Grant Applications

  • In partnership with the Executive Director/Leadership team, prepare and submit compelling grant proposals
  • Manage grant requirements
  • Report on the impact of grant-funded projects

What We’re Looking For: 

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in fundraising with a proven track record of launching and delivering successful fund development campaigns.
  • Possession of a fund development credential such as Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE), or completion of a Canadian fund management certificate program.
  • Excellent business judgment and analytical/decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising platforms, CRM systems and grant databases
  • Proficient in the use of donor campaign software such as DonorPerfect, Zeffy, Keela or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any other productivity software that supports the automation of processes and workflows.
  • University degree in Business Administration, Philanthropy, Fundraising, Non-Profit Management, Marketing or equivalent discipline.

 

Please note:  Preference will be given to contractors who have demonstrated their commitment to professional growth, lifelong learning, and a passion for fundraising and philanthropy through membership in professional associations, such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) or a similar organization.

 

Remuneration: WorkLink will provide the contracted Fund Developer with a monthly fee between $4,400 and $ 4,700 in return for services (based on an average workload of 20 hours per week, with full details provided to shortlisted candidates only).
