This position is subject to federal funding. As a condition of funding, this opportunity is open to youth aged 15-30.

WorkLink Employment Society is seeking an aspiring Marketing professional to join us for a 4-month contract over the summer. In this dynamic role, you’ll get to apply your schooling in a practical setting through exposure to responsibilities in events, marketing, and administration. Working under the guidance of our experienced team, you’ll end the term with greater confidence and developed skills.

This is an onsite position working 35 hours per week.

Wage: $20.20/hr

 

About The Society: 

WorkLink has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region’s Westshore (Colwood, Langford, Highlands, View Royal, and Metchosin) since 1978.  In 2008, our services expanded to include the communities of Sooke and surrounding areas including Jordan River and Port Renfrew. We are also pleased to provide Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, T’Souke, and Pacheedaht. Our non-profit organization is funded through both federal and provincial government initiatives. WorkLink is a registered charity in the Province of BC, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from leaders in the community.

What You’ll Do:

  • Attend in-person and virtual events (career fairs, community events, employer forums, etc.)
  • Ensure marketing event kits are stocked with the correct brochures, posters, and swag
  • Assist with the marketing of events using tools like social media, email blasts, Eventbrite, paid advertising
  • Assist with planning information sessions and connecting with employers
  • Provide social media support for the Society, WorkBC and Economic Development division channels by creating original content, scheduling posts in Hootsuite, and replying to DM's and comments
  • Support the team with creating internal and external newsletters
  • Assist with copy writing for the website blog
  • Assist with ordering print materials, including brochures, business cards, swag, etc.
  • Schedule meetings, create agendas and take minutes
  • Monitor the Communications shared email inbox and distribute messages to the correct contact
  • Monitor and maintain marketing team inventory
  • Help organize the internal SharePoint Marketing team library
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Are currently pursuing a career in marketing, social media, communications or a related field
  • Have positive and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from events around Greater Victoria, Langford and Sooke to Port Renfrew
  • Are proficient with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Enjoy planning events and love a challenge!
  • Can blend creativity with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Possess working knowledge of Canva, Hootsuite, and HubSpot
  • Have some experience with graphic design and Adobe CC - Illustrator and Acrobat Pro
  • Have experience in content creation, social media marketing, Facebook/Instagram advertising
  • Work well in a team and are receptive to feedback
  • Have videography experience (not required, but an asset!)
