ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Since 2019, WorkLink has been dedicated to providing economic development services along the Juan de Fuca Corridor, extending from Sooke to Port Renfrew.

In 2020, WorkLink formed the Port Renfrew Economic Development Task Force, convening Provincial Government,  Pacheedaht First Nation, Port Renfrew Chamber of Commerce, and PR Community Association representatives with a shared goal of stimulating economic activity through, targeted initiatives, supported by third-party funding sources. The Port Renfrew Visitor Information Centre, powered by WorkLink,  welcomes over 4,000 visitors to the region annually and is an example of what happens when we work together.

Community Collaboration

As part of our commitment to the local economy, the Port Renfrew Economic Development Task Force conducted in-depth business needs assessments which identified economic development and regenerative tourism strategies as essential priorities for this community as it transitions away from a resource extraction dependent economy.

Visitor Information Centre

WorkLink proudly owns and operates the Visitor Information Centre, an integral part of our economic development initiatives. From 2022 to 2024, this centre attracted over 8,623 visitors, serving as a vital resource for both locals and tourists, and contributing to the region’s economic growth.
