At 23, Jaeden already had some work experience and education. With a passion for travel, sports, and physical health, he spent two years studying sports media and later worked as a Video Journalist in Prince George. After returning home, he was looking for a way to regain momentum and reset with a structured professional routine.
Jaeden joined the START Youth Employment Program in January 2026, seeking practical support and a renewed sense of direction. The program quickly helped him rebuild the rhythm of a professional schedule while strengthening both workplace and everyday life skills.
Throughout the program, Jaeden appreciated the balance between skill development and personal growth. Thought-provoking discussions and regular group walks created space for reflection and connection, helping participants engage with one another and with the learning process.
The program also supported Jaeden in refining key employment tools. Through resume and cover letter development, he was able to clearly identify and communicate the skills he had built through previous work and life experiences. He also earned several industry-recognized certifications, which have given him additional confidence and practical credentials as he continues his job search.
For Jaeden, the experience reinforced the value of keeping an open mind. His advice for others considering the program is simple: come in ready to learn and take advantage of every opportunity.
“If you’re a bit older than most, don’t bring an ego. A lot of the skills you work on in the program are rarely touched on in everyday life or in the workplace unless you seek them out. Soak in as much as you can and take advantage of the chance to get paid while learning valuable skills.”
Today, Jaeden continues his job search with renewed confidence, stronger professional tools, and a clearer understanding of how to present his skills to employers. His journey through START reflects the program’s role in helping young people reset, build momentum, and move forward with purpose.
