WorkLink Employment Society is recruiting a Labour Market Specialist. A crucial member of the Marketing team, you will assist with the research, creation and distribution of all relevant labour market information. This includes creating informative e-newsletters for subscribing clients, providing monthly updates to the Board of Directors, and supporting the Employment Advisors as required.
This position has the option to work in a hybrid format.
Weekly hours: 26.25-30
About The Society:
WorkLink has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region’s Westshore (Colwood, Langford, Highlands, View Royal, and Metchosin) since 1978. In 2008, our services expanded to include the communities of Sooke and surrounding areas including Jordan River and Port Renfrew. We are also pleased to provide Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, T’Souke, and Pacheedaht. Our non-profit organization is funded through both federal and provincial government initiatives. WorkLink is a registered charity in the Province of BC, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from leaders in the community.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Use a variety of resources to research and gather relevant labour market information (LMI) that will support service delivery planning for clients.
- Create and distribute a variety of digital newsletters, including the daily JobLinx publication.
- Review job boards to ensure accurate job posting information is shared with subscribers.
- Monitor newsletter readership statistics and respond to feedback from subscribers.
- Maintain a secure mailing list of active newsletter subscribers.
- Assist with the creation of social media content related to labour market information.
- Update the Employment Advisors on labour market trends.
- Share relevant labour market information for Board meetings and monthly reports.
- Conduct research for the Annual Business Plan (ABP) and assist with the writing and editing of the Plan.
- Occasionally participate in staffing information booths at external community events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Executive Director.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a research and communications role, ideally with a focus on the areas of employment support, business, politics, psychology, culture, or economics.
- Degree, diploma, or post-secondary certificate in Marketing, Communications, Commerce, Career Practitioner, Employment Development, or Vocational Rehabilitation.
- Demonstrates initiative to find new labour market resources and keep updated on news and trends related to employment, business, economics, housing, immigration, and technology.
- Solid familiarity with local and regional employers and emerging community needs.
- Able to impart verbal and written information in a clear, professional, positive, accessible, and engaging manner.
- Able to write with a neutral voice and plain language, with proven experience adapting communication style to different audiences.
- Proven attention to detail when reviewing and preparing documentation and recording information.
- Able to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines with a high level of self-motivation and organization.
- Highly proficient in MS Office suites.
- Experience using Mailchimp preferred.
- Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
- Valid BC Driver’s license for occasional work-related travel.
- The selected candidate will be required to complete Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
