How would you like to spend your summer working in beautiful Port Renfrew?
A 2-hour drive from Victoria, this quiet community is a popular getaway for tourists to Vancouver Island. The Visitor Information Centre offers free Wi-Fi, washrooms, visitor services, and phone access. WorkLink Employment Society is looking for two individuals who will provide welcoming and helpful service to visitors by sharing information on local trails, attractions, dining options, and accommodations.
During this contract, you’ll work 35 hours per week, Thursday through Monday (including stat holidays) from May until mid-September. Shared trailer accommodation is provided for non-residents.

Please note that this position is subject to federal funding. As a condition of funding, this opportunity is open to youth aged 15-30.
About Your Employer:
A non-profit organization, WorkLink Employment Society, has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region’s Westshore since 1978. We are also pleased to provide Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, Tsouke, and Pacheedaht. WorkLink is a proud member of the Port Renfrew Economic Development Task Force.
As a Visitor Centre Ambassador, You Will:
- Greet visitors in a friendly manner
- Answer questions in person, over the phone, and via email
- Advise visitors on local attractions and amenities and provide directions
- Distribute promotional materials and promote retail products
- Accurately process cash and card transactions
- Assist with capturing photo and video content for social media channels
- Collect visitor stats and report in a database
- Assist with inventory and basic housekeeping duties
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

- Are currently pursuing a career in hospitality/tourism, marketing, business or a related field
- Are familiar with Port Renfrew and its attractions and amenities
- Enjoy talking to people and sharing your passion for the outdoors with others
- Have positive and professional verbal communication skills
- Are comfortable answering phone calls
- Have experience with POS systems or are willing to learn
- Have experience with data collection and data entry
- Possess reliable transportation to get around Port Renfrew
- Work well in a team and are receptive to feedback
- Enjoy photography and are known for being great with a camera
- Care about helping create exceptional travel experiences
- Are comfortable living in a quiet, secluded community with basic amenities and limited cell service
- Are fluent in a second language (not required, but an asset!)
